It’s all the buzz in Varanasi: Ganga Maki Safai, November 20th!
Not only that, but we’ve had national press coverage on page 3 of the Hindustan Times, delivering the news in English to a readership of over 3.3 million. Photo to follow.
Much of the coverage is thanks to Rachna Arora of the Gandiv Daily, who is a leading member of the project committee. With her guidance, we set up a press conference for 11.11.11 at 11am . . . an auspicious meeting that resulted in print coverage in the following local and national papers:
- Gandiv Daily
- Dainik Jagran
- Hindustan Times
- Hindustan (Hindi)
Television stations airing interviews with my guruji and committee member Raj Kumar Vajpayee, Yogacharya and Rachna include:
- Full Volume: an awesome culture program in Easter Uttar Pradesh that’s currently airing promotions of the cleanup day at 8am, 8pm, 11pm and 2am
- City Channel
Much of the focus has been on the fact that I am a foreigner wanting to do something good here, as well as the involvement from Jago Banarras, a local non-profit run by Deepak Madhok.
Since the press conference the committee’s been working hard to set up meetings with other pillars of the community, interviews for the press, fliering, and screening for sponsorships (McDonald’s has actually made an offer …!)
